A growing barrier to interdisciplinary research is the increasing specialization and fragmentation of scientific knowledge. The "cognitive atlas" shown below combines the bazaar approach of social collaborative systems such as Wikipedia with cathedral-like support for structured data and links. Find out more (including how to get involved) at cognitiveatlas.org.
The resulting system supports the visualization and testing of evidence-based multi-level linkages that span the syndromal, cognitive, behavioral, and biological levels of analysis.
Each page and link in the cognitive atlas represents the evidence and discussion surrounding a concept, leading to a rich web of associations between concepts.

This web of associations can be interactively visualized to show the support over time for many different links across multiple levels of analysis.
